Ordinary leather weights aren’t very heavy. Ordinary leather weights are round. Ordinary leather weights have a clumsy grab-handle on the top. Ordinary leather weights must be used vertically.

This is not an ordinary leather weight.

The Mascon & ZeeBee Tools Leather weight goes beyond what a normal leather workshop weight can do. These weights are solid 1018 steel, and 4.33 pounds each. They’re 4” long and 2.25” across flats. These weights are small, but mighty, and that’s a good thing. Instead of a grab handle or knob at the top, we opted for a finger hole that’s very easy to grab and allows the weight to be used in any orientation. The footprint is compact, which makes it ideal for doing its job but staying out of the way. And because the finger hole goes from vertex to vertex, it makes the weight really easy to lift up from the horizontal position.

Some great uses for Mascon & ZeeBee Tools leather weights:

• Weighing down a floating pocket while punching stitching holes. A great way to stitch something in place without having to stabilize it with glue first.

• Stabilizing a side of leather on a small workbench when cutting straps.

• Anchoring patterns in place while tracing them. Get a good trace without having to worry about your pattern piece shifting.

• Applying pressure to Barge cement to encourage a tight bond. This is especially helpful if the leather being glued is something folded over and has some spring to it. Glue it up, and weigh it down to get it to cooperate.

• Because of their unique shape, these weights can be used both vertically and horizontally, depending on what you’re doing. And because they’re hexagonal, they can be stacked to increase the weight in a particular area.
